BLCCJ joins foreign chambers of commerce network in supporting JMEC

March 4, 2010— The Japan Market Expansion Competition (JMEC) is proud to welcome the Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in Japan (BLCCJ) as its newest supporting foreign chamber of commerce.
JMEC is a non-profit program designed to enhance the foreign business community in Japan. The objectives of JMEC are two-fold: first, to provide hands-on business training for Japanese and foreign individuals living and working in Japan, and second to help foreign companies – both multinationals and small- to medium-sized organizations – looking to enter or expand into the Japanese market by providing high-quality business plans at an affordable cost. JMEC was started in 1993 by the Australian and New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Japan, and has since come to be supported by many of the other foreign chambers of commerce in Japan, as well as a number of corporate sponsors in the local business community. The BLCCJ now brings the total number of JMEC supporting chambers to 13.
The BLCCJ promotes business in the Japanese market by supporting the Belgian-Luxembourg business community and creating a more favorable environment for its member companies. Seeing a complementary match in JMEC and an opportunity to increase value for its member companies, BLCCJ decided to join JMEC as one of the supporting chambers. “We are very pleased to join the foreign chamber of commerce network in supporting JMEC. JMEC and BLCCJ share some common objectives, and we hope that our support will be beneficial to both JMEC and to the members of our chamber of commerce”, said Fabrice Tilot, President of the BLCCJ.
“Foreign chamber of commerce support is the backbone of the JMEC program. By leveraging the various aspects of JMEC, chambers can offer extended services to their members and vice versa. We are very happy to see growing interest from other foreign chamber communities and welcome BLCCJ to the JMEC organization“, said JMEC Chairperson Verena Urbschat.
