PROGRAMME\u00a0OBJECTIVES<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cGet Ready for Japan\u201d aims to help understand Japanese business practices and communication styles and identify opportunities for successful business partnerships. Additionally, the programme aims to provide insights into the decision-making process within Japanese companies, and help better understand of their negotiation style and hierarchy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, the programme intends to strengthen existing relationships with Japanese customers and establish new contacts with potential ones, thereby expanding the business’s reach and impact.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

PROGRAMME CONTENT<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The programme consists of two phases.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Exclusive 2-phase Training Programme for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2192The first phase is an online programme\u00a0from 18 to 22 May 2026<\/strong>. During this phase, participants will engage in virtual case studies and cross-cultural lectures, gaining insights into the Japanese business environment and management practices.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2192The second phase is an on-site programme in Tokyo\u00a0from 8 to 12 June<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0202<\/span><\/strong>6<\/span><\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span>During this phase, SME participants will have the opportunity to attend interactive seminars and workshops and schedule individual company meetings (ICMs) with Japanese companies of interest. The EU-Japan Centre’s team and interpreters will support these ICMs, allowing SMEs to explore pre-established or new opportunities for growth and collaboration.<\/span><\/p>\n

The number of participants for this programme is limited to 14.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

PARTICIPANT PROFILE<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Companies: this programme is open to Managers or Executives working for an SME<\/span>(*)<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0based in the European Union, or in a country associated with the Single Market Programme, SME Pillar<\/span>(**)<\/span><\/sup>; the headquarters of the company must be located in an EU\/SMP country.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

(*)<\/span><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are companies that meet the\u00a0<\/span><\/em>standard criteria<\/em><\/a><\/span>\u00a0set by the European Commission to be classified as SMEs.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

ELIGIBILITY<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
The applicant must:\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

  • be a Manager or Executive working for an SME based in the European Union, or in a country associated with the Single Market Programme, SME Pillar.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • the headquarters of the company must be located in an EU\/SMP country.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

    \n
  • be supported by their employer through a signed letter (in case they do not belong to senior management).\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

    \n
  • be able to participate in the entire programme; a representation by a non-selected candidate is not permitted.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

  • have a good command of English (recommended level B2 or higher)\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
While the type of business plays a minor role, candidates from the consulting sector may receive lower priority during the selection process.\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Companies are allowed to participate multiple times. However, applicants will be declined if they have previously participated in the \u201cGet Ready For Japan\u201d programme, cancelled their participation or were absent during any part of a previous training programme\/mission without a valid reason. Additionally, applicants may be declined for any actions that contravene the training programme’s guidelines, local laws, customs, and regulations, or for failing to follow the instructions of Centre staff.\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

SELECTION<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
The Centre will evaluate applicants based on the following selection criteria:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

  • The company’s strategy towards Japan\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\n
    \n
  • The applicant\u2019s professional background and position within the company.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
