Amendments to the entry restrictions and quarantine as of 25 February, 2022

The following information was shared by the European Business Council (EBC):

The Japanese Government has started to release the details following the announcement by Prime Minister Kishida that Japan will open up its border for business people and students.

The details do indeed confirm what the Prime Minister said in his speech: companies can apply online for visas for their employees to come to Japan. This is done via the following homepage: ERFS (Entrants, Returnees, Follow up System) https://entry.hco.mhlw.go.jp/

Details regarding the new quarantine rules when entering Japan have been released. The document explains them in rather simple terms. It also mentions the visa application process.

For the official information regarding both changes to the entry restrictions and the quarantine regulations, please see the following link: https://www.mofa.go.jp/ca/fna/page4e_001053.html

The MHLW has published a Q&A, unfortunately only in Japanese:
