Passing away of Mr. Hiyane – Edelweiss

Mr. Tsuyoshi Hiyane, Chairman of Edelweiss, the company representing 7 high-level western confectionary brands incl. Belgian chocolate brand “Wittamer”, passed away on June 4^th.

Edelweiss has been a longtime corporate member of the BLCCJ.

 

In 1990 Mr. Hiyane brought the Wittamer brand to Japan and established the first Wittamer shop outside Belgium. In 2012 he received the decoration of the “Order of Leopold II”.

The Edelweiss HQ is located in Amagasaki and houses the Edelweiss Museum, a large collection of confectionary utensils and materials from Belgium. Since the opening many Belgian ambassadors have visited this important cultural facility.
